BABL029-ForrestWilletForrest Willet on Life, Love and Almost Dying

I first met Forrest Willet at a Jack Canfield Train The Trainer Event — and to meet Forrest is to love Forrest. He absolutely exudes love, loves life, and loves other people for who they are and who they can become.

I had no idea about Forrest’s traumatic brain injury when I first met him, and through our interactions he shared the events that led up to him lying in bed in a seriously depressed (and near suicidal) state. It was clear from the moment I met him that he would be a great interview on Build A Bigger Life.

Forrest’s first piece of advice was to accept where you are in life. Today, he works with other victims of brain injuries to help them recuperate and re-envision their lives.

One such story is Melinda, a young woman who had a traumatic brain injury, was in a coma for 9 months, was told she’d never walk or talk again — yet goes to coffee every week with Forrest who tells them they can do anything they set their mind to. (15:00)

With a son who was two years old at the time, Forrest had to re-learn how to read alongside his son. They would read Berenstain Bears over and over again, sometimes his son correcting the words his dad would say. (20:00)

Forrest owned a chain of check cashing and payday loan businesses, at the time one of the fastest growing franchises in America, as well as buying and selling homes. The business allowed him to become a multi-millionaire in a relatively short amount of time. Yet, one of the lessons Forrest preaches is never judging anyone and treating everyone the same no matter their situation or circumstance. (26:00)

Books recommended by Forrest:

The Success Principles by Jack Canfield

The Greatest Miracle in The World by Og Mandino

Awaken The Giant Within by Tony Robbins

The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg

Mentioned on the show:

Outwitting The Devil

Building a Bigger Life to Forrest means building a life INSIDE of you, not outside of you. I hope you enjoyed the interview as much as I did!
